Nemonte led an indigenous campaign and legal action that resulted in a court ruling protecting 500,000 acres of Amazonian rainforest and Waorani territory from oil extraction. ”People who are part of this fight are being threatened by the government. They want to eliminate all of us leaders who appear in public and say that our territory isn’t for sale.
