🥀💀Día de los Muertos, is a day to celebrate, remember and honor our dearly departed. Prior to Spanish colonization in the 16th century, the celebration took place at the beginning of summer. Gradually, it was associated with October 31 – November 2 to coincide w/ Western Christianity. The celebration consists of diy private altars called offerings displayed w/ food, beverage and items the departed enjoyed in their lifetime. As such to enjoy during their visit with family & friends. 🎶Recuérdame🎶Remember Me🎶 The 2017 Pixar film Coco features the Dia de los Muertos holiday as element in it’s plot.
