History of Latinx Voter Rights

Lifestyle1 year ago3 Views

📢✨ United for #ElectionDay A bit of history today. Not too long ago we, Latinx faced extreme voter discrimination and voter violations. Not only did we encounter high poll taxes, but were also labeled “language minorities,” and had little to no materials translated into Spanish to facilitate voter registration. During the 1960’s -1970’s Latinx groups formed to fight for equality and fair rights at the polls. Although initially lead by Latinos, LATINAS pushed for representation and encouraged ALL women to get out and vote! Sisters see you at the polls! #votolatino
