History1 year ago4 Views

Over the past two decades, the mining industry in 🇵🇪 has been growing rapidly. In many communities, mining waste has polluted the local waterways, affecting drinking water and irrigation needs. Since Máxima refused to sell her land to make way for the proposed mine in 2011, her famila has had invadors destroy her crops, parts of her home, kill her farm animals and has been brutally beaten by private security forces backed by mining companies. However she continues to fight back for her family, community, land, water and is a member of the Asociación de Mujeres en Defensa de la Vida, and of the Unión Latinoamericana de Mujeres. “I never had the chance to go the school, I never had to chance to learn even a letter but I know how to resist, to fight ✊🏽 and that’s why I will never be defeated by the mining companies.” Bravo 👏🏽 Máxima. #earthday2020 #maximaacuña #earthday
