🇻🇪 Teresa Carreño born on Dec. 22, 1853, in Caracas, Venezuela is known as “The World’s Greatest Woman Pianist.”⠀ She was a pianist, soprano, composer, and conductor. Born into a musical family 🎶- her father would teach her to play the piano when she was just six years old. Teresa performed in NYC, Cuba, Paris , Germany, and was invited to the White House to perform for President Abraham Lincoln, and 53 years later, she performed at the White House again for President Woodrow Wilson.⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Her works include the Venezuelan national anthem. Teresa passed on June 12, 1917, New York City and is remembered through the nonprofit Teresa Carreño International Piano competition in Miami, which recognizes young musicians.
