This week, the Queen of Tejano, Selena Quintanilla, was posthumously awarded the prestigious National Medal of Arts, the highest award given to artists and arts patrons by the U.S. government. The award was presented at the White House by President Biden, alongside honors for fellow Latino trailblazers Eva Longoria, accordion legend Leonardo “Flaco” Jiménez, and others.

More than 25 years after her passing, Selena’s music and impact remain timeless. Her honor at the nation’s capital is not just a celebration of her career, but a recognition of the deep cultural mark she left on generations of Latinos in the U.S. and beyond.

From Corpus Christi to the White House, her legacy continues.
