On this May 5th we’ve opted to share an image of Poderosa Mujer Mexicana 👉🏽 María Félix.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ (sidebar: No taco, margarita, serape commercialism here 🙅🏽‍♀️)⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ In her lifetime this mega ⭐️ acted in more than 47 films.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Filmed in Mexico, Spain, Italy, France and Argentina.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Was admired by many including Diego Rivera.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Had designers like Christian Dior and Cartier Paris flock to make her custom clothing and jewelry.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ She denied work in Hollywood, where directors only offered her stereotyped parts as a “Latin spitfire“ 🤦🏽‍♀️. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ She was respected onset, voiced her opinions wherever and whenever, stood her ground and believed that women should be independent.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Nobel Prize winning Poet, Octavio Paz said this about her ‘María Félix is a woman — such a woman — with the audacity to defy the ideas machos have constructed of what a woman should be.’ ✊🏽
