👋🏽Today’s Google Doodle features María Joaquina de la Portilla Torres or María Grever LA PRIMERA female Mexican composer to achieve international acclaim for her boleros. Born on 1885 in Guanajuato, 🇲🇽 María was destined for greatness. At the age of 4 she wrote her first song 🎶 and would later perform across Buenos Aires, NYC and Spain. She was also hired by Paramount Studios and 20th Century Fox, where she focused on writing music ✍🏽 for movies and documentaries. María’s greatest hits are still present in todays music including artists like Amy Winehouse and Gloria Estefan. Fun Fact: María was also LA PRIMERA mujer to dedicate/popularizare romantic songs to men 😘
