Celebrating Yukaima González’s Victory

On this International Women’s Day we honor todas las mujeres and highlight Nayarit’s newly crowned queen 👸🏻 Yukaima González! 18 yr old Yukaima from La Yesca, Nayarit, México, was crowned winner of the 2019 Feria Nayarit beauty pageant. She is part of the Wixárika indigenous community, extension of the Huichol tribe! This historic win for Yukaima is a huge representation of 🇲🇽’s indigenous population. She was one of two indigenous women that entered the competition calling it the “Yalitza effect”. It goes to show when you see people that look like you being represented correctly in the 🌎, that will inspire others to follow and achieve their dreams. ¡Felicidades Yukaima!
