Helia Bravo Hollis: Cactus Queen

The Queen of 🇲🇽’s Cacti🌵Born in 1901, Helia Bravo Hollis become the FIRST female biologist in México. “I have done everything with love, passion, and courage.” As a 👧🏻, Helia’s parents took her on long Sunday walks through the gardens and parks of Mexico City. These strolls would spark her lifelong love of succulents and #cacti. During her 60 years of field study she; 🌵Published 170 articles on her botanical research. 🌵Wrote a book, “La cactáceas de Mexico.” 🌵Became a University professor and was known by her students as “Maestra Bravo.” 🌵Created the Mexican Cactus Society. 🌵Establish a thriving botanical garden, known today as the “Helia Bravo Hollis Garden.” 🌵Two catci and six subspecies are named for her, including the Heliabravoa and the Bravothrips.
