News 📰 we 💕 to see! 🗞First up, Adelina “Nina” Otero-Warren, becomes the first #LATINA to be featured in a U.S. coin 🪙! The Mexican American educator and activist, fought for women’s voting rights and blazed a trail when she ran for Congress as the first Latina in 1921. The quarter’s tails design includes Otero-Warren herself, as well as — New Mexico’s state flowers, yucca flowers along with the suffragist slogan in Spanish, “Voto Para La Mujer.” The new coin is set to release 8/15! 🗞 Secondly, the U.S. Postal Service 📬 has recently released a series of Mariachi stamps to celebrate the sounds 🎶 of Mexican tradition. Each of the five new stamps designed by Rafael López @rafaellopezillustration features a mariachi playing one of five iconic mariachi instruments: guitar, guitarrón, vihuela, violin and trumpet 🎺 . The geometric shapes in the background of each stamp are a nod to Mexican villages, where mariachi music originated. These #MariachiStamps are available now!
