National Coffee Day (September 29) isn’t just another food holiday—it’s a celebration of connection, culture, and the communities that have cultivated the beans behind every brew. And for us, it’s personal.

From the fog-covered mountains of Chiapas to the coffee farms of Colombia, Latin America is the beating heart of global coffee production. But while Latine hands have long grown and harvested the beans, they’ve rarely been centered in the stories, profits, or storefronts of the U.S. coffee scene.

That’s starting to change—and Latinas are leading the charge.

For generations, coffee has been a daily anchor in Latine households. And now, more of us are bringing that tradition into the business world—with bold, community-rooted ventures that don’t just serve coffee, they serve culture.

By the Numbers: Latinas + Coffee

  • 74% of Latinos in the U.S. drink coffee daily, with nearly two-thirds preferring specialty coffee over mainstream brands.

  • Yet, only 13% of coffee roasters in the U.S. are Latino-owned—a glaring gap considering Latin America supplies much of the world’s beans.
