Remembering Immigrant Contributions on 9/11

Lifestyle1 year ago2 Views

As we reflect on 9/11🗽and the countless lives that were lost we also recognize those undocumented and those often overlooked for their contributions to the aftermath. Immigrants who were contracted for cleanup, working through jagged steel, burning debris, shattered glass, asbestos, and toxic fumes. Mostly ill-equipped, with little to no protection, or knowledge of the longterm health effects. Those who now live with respiratory and digestive disorders, PTSD, and cancer. The snippet above is from Chapter 2, page 53 of The Undocumented Americans by Karla Cornejo Villavicencio which highlights personal stories from 9/11 and the impact on la comunidad that stepped in to help.
