A beloved piece of Latin American literature has been reborn in a six-episode series now streaming on Netflix. Based on Laura Esquivel’s iconic novel, Like Water for Chocolate unspools the passionate and magical tale of Tita de la Garza (portrayed by Azul Guaita) and her forbidden love for Pedro Múzquiz (Andrés Baida), all set against the chaotic beauty of the Mexican Revolution.

Set in the early 20th century in Mexico, the adaptation was executive produced by Latina powerhouse Salma Hayek Pinault, who spent six years shaping a version she hoped would resonate with both new viewers and longtime fans. The cast also includes Irene Azuela as the formidable Mamá Elena, Ana Valeria Becerril as sister Rosaura, Andrea Chaparro as Gertrudis, and Ángeles Cruz as Nacha, the cook whose food channels both heartbreak and hope.

Like Water for Chocolate is streaming exclusively on Netflix.
