A powerful new documentary directed by Isabel Castro just premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, offering an intimate look at Selena’s life through never-before-seen archival footage and heartfelt interviews with her family, husband, and bandmates.

Titled Selena y Los Dinos, the film traces the Tejano icon’s journey from backyard performances to international stardom, while spotlighting the family that has fought to keep her spirit alive.
The film received critical acclaim and was honored with the U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Archival Storytelling, a reflection of both its cultural impact and emotional depth.
Although the film was briefly pulled from Sundance’s virtual screening platform due to concerns over copyright infringement and piracy, it sparked overwhelming demand from fans worldwide. The good news? Viewers will have a chance to watch it during a limited online screening window from January 30 to February 2.

And the celebration doesn’t end there—Netflix has officially acquired global distribution rights in a multi-million dollar deal reported to be between $6–7 million. This means the story of Selena, lovingly told through the eyes of those who knew her best, will soon be accessible to audiences around the world.
This is more than a documentary; it’s a restoration of legacy, love, and Latina brilliance that the world still can’t stop dreaming of.
